Rafting in Tamur River

Probably the best combination trip in Nepal-magnificent white water, a beautiful unspoiled valley, combined with one of the most scenic treks in Nepal. The Tamur and its tributaries drain the snows of Kanchenjunga third highest peak in the world. The river is the sixth largest river in Nepal and seems to have a feeling of thrusting power and of being constrained by its valley sides. The first commercial run of the Tamur was in 1990 and there have been very few descents since then.


It is an outstandingly beautiful river with superb views of the Himalayan range including Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Makalu. The river trip includes around 120 km descent through more than 100 of the most exciting rapids still to be named has to offer grade 3 to 4, with some graded -5, making one of the best white water expedition trips in the world.

Day 1
Basantapur of Thehrathum via Dharan: The first day of 12 days rafting in Tamur river of Nepal will begin by travelling to Biratnagar by bus or air. You will drive to the Tehrathum region stay in a camp for the night.
Day 2
Prepare for trekking and camp: The second day of the 12 days rafting in Tamur river of Nepal is dedicated to preparation for trekking while soaking up the incredible views. You will spend the night camping here, while enjoying the spectacular view.
Day 3
Trek to Mangalbare: On the third day of the 12 days Tamur River rafting you will be soaking up incredible views, while trekking for five hours. You will spend the night camping in the wilderness.
Day 4
Trek to Guphapokhari: On the fourth day of 12 days Tamur River rafting you will be trekking to Guphapokhari, which takes approximately 5 hours. The picturesque view of the surrounding scenery will inspire you. Later you will spend the night in a camp under the starry sky.
Day 5
Trek to Gorja: The five hour long trek to the Gorja will be a life changing experience for you. Day five of the 12 days Tamur white water rafting will end with camping under the stars.
Day 6
Trek to Dobhan: The sixth day of your 12 days Tamur white water rafting experience will be shorter, taking only 3 hours to reach your next destination, Dobhan. Later, you will end the day by camping in the wilderness.
Day 7
Tamur River Rafting: After a brief lesson on safety measures, you will commence your rafting adventure. Rafting through class 4 and 5 rapids through the wilderness will captivate you. The thrilling water adventure for day 7 will end f at Kabelidobhan. You will camp the night here.
Day 8
Rafting in white water: On the eighth day of the 12 days Tamur white water rafting you will be rafting in the white water section of Tamur River, which will give you an adrenaline rush. It provide you with the memory of a lifetime. The day will end at a camp near Koya River Bank.
Day 9
Koya River to Dumre: On the ninth day of the 12 days rafting in Tamur River of Nepal you will encounter a calmer section of water, You will get a better opportunity here to cherish the amazing view along the trail. You will spend the night by camping at Dumre.
Day 10
Dumre to Tribenighat: The tenth day of the 12 days rafting in Tamur River of Nepal will be more exciting and challenging than the previous day. The continuous rapids of Tamor River will keep your heart pumping fast. You will be spending the night at a camp near Tribenighat.
Day 11
Tribenighat to Chatara: Today you will be rafting for three hours in the white water of Tamur river. It is also the last day of the 12 days rafting in Tamur River of Nepal. The thrilling and life transforming experience will finally finish at Chatara. Later you will be driven back to Kathmandu.
Day 12
Return to Kathmandu: Upon completing your enthralling whitewater expedition you will arrive at Kathmandu with a heart full of memories to cherish for a lifetime. If time permits you can explore the local market and surrounds of Kathmandu.
