Pokhara: Kathmandu is the cultural hub of Nepal; Pokhara is the center of adventure. An enchanting city nestled in a tranquil valley; it is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking or short hiking to view mountains of western side like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu. It is a place of remarkable natural beauty. The serenity of Phewa lake and the magnificence of the fishtailed summit of Machhapuchhre (6,977m) rising behind it create an ambience of peace and magic. At an elevation lower than Kathmandu, it has a tropical feel to it, a fact well appreciated by the beautiful diversity of flowers, which prosper in its environs. Indeed, the valley surrounding Pokhara is home to thick forests, gushing rivers, emerald lakes, and of course, the world famous views of the Himalaya. The visitors easily can reach by air 25 minutes or drive for 6 hours from Kathmandu. Chitwan: While the high Himalayas make up Nepal’s northern region, the southern lowland known as Terai. It is covered with dense tropical jungles teeming with diverse wildlife and exotic birds. Here you will find some of the most exciting safari destinations in the world. You will be going into deep jungle on elephant back or four-wheel drive vehicle to view wild animals in their natural habitat. Other thrills are canoeing ride on the Jungle Rivers, nature walk, bird watching excursions, and village tours. There are 14 national parks and wildlife reserves in the kingdom. They provide one of the world’s major habitats for endangered species like One-horned Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, Snow Leopard and many other animals as well as birds. The Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park and the Royal Chitwan National Park are listed as World Heritage Sites. Lumbini: Lumbini, the place where founder of Buddhism, Lord Buddha was born at around 511 BC.This is confirmed by the existence of pillar erected by Great Buddhist Emperor Ashoka, during his visit to lumbini around 259 BC to worship the place where Buddha was born. Puskarini Pond is the pond where queen Mayadevi, the mother of Lord Buddha is believed to have taken bath before giving birth to Buddha. It is also said that, after birth all purification rituals of Buddha was performed here. The Tibetian monastery was built in 1975. Tansen: Tansen, 119 km south of Pokhara, is far enough off the radar to make it a rewarding detour for independent travelles. Perched high above the Kali Gandaki River on the road between Butwal and Pokhara. Its main attraction is both its Newari Charm and distinct medieval feel. Rani Mahal is another attraction, which was built by Khadga Samsher after the death of his wife Tejkumari. This beautiful palace rests alongside the Kaligandaki river in Palpa. One has to walk about 4 hours to reach here from Tansen.
